Making your own BBQ sauce is not only easy to do, you avoid all of the unnecessary ingredients in the store bought version.
1 cup tomato ketchup
1/4 cup GF Worcestershire sauce*
2 tbsp Balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
INSTRUCTIONS
Combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan and set over medium-high heat.
Bring to a simmer and allow to cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring regularly, until the sugar has dissolved.
Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary then remove from the heat and allow to cool before using.
*Lea & Perrins is the most recognized Worcestershire sauce. If you buy it in the USA, it is gluten free. If you buy it in Europe or Canada, it is not. Their version contains malt vinegar which is made from barley.
